The eighth Porsche 911 series is identified as the 992 series. 56 years after the release of the first series, and 8 years after the launch of the previous 991 series, Porsche confirms its evolutionary solidity, which uniquely combines continuity and innovation.
The car received excellent reviews, but they all complained of a lack of character of the standard original exhaust system, and recommended buying the optional Porsche Sport Exhaust. But we think our Tubi Syle proposal is better.
In Tubi Style, we’ve made a further evolutionary step, with our exhaust lines dedicated to removing GPF (specifically for the European market) and allowing you to remove the catalytic converter of the series, or to replace it with an HJS catalytic converter with a small number of 200 cells: a solution which combines an increase in sound and performance with a reduction of pollutant emissions.
Let’s analyze the standard exhaust system together, starting first of all by noting that Porsche has used practically the same exhaust line on the two Turbo and Carrera models in the numerous variants, distinguished by different serial numbers due to minor variations.
The analysis focuses on the Tubi Style variants available, and on the interchangeability conditions with the standard system, divided into two macro-paragraphs
The Tubi Style mufflers are suitable for the replacement of the optional Porsche PSE sports exhaust system, and interface with the corresponding Porsche 911 Oval tailpipes, both on the Porsche 992 Turbo and on the Porsche 992 Carrera: the Tubi Style system can be purchased and mounted on all Porsche 911 992 series with oval tailpipes. Aesthetically they are easily distinguishable from the standard ones; below are some photos which help to correctly identify the compatible systems. It’s always possible to fit our muffler in the event that, together with our exhaust system, the corresponding original Porsche optional tailpipes are purchased, and the specific variant for the standard tailpipes is being developed, which will be communicated as soon as available.
Tubi Style offers two different types of products:
This muffler guarantees maximum noise, and is the solution which we recommend for those customers who do not want to remove the catalyst/GPF as standard and then intervene on the control unit. The sound differentiation between open valve and closed valve is achieved through some diameter reductions, without using a classic silencer: the sound of this solution is exciting and intense even in the case of replacing the muffler only, in which case obviously the power of the acoustic emission is higher than the standard one, but not to the maximum potential of the car.
This product can also be used together with the removal/replacement solutions of the catalytic converter group with GPF, to create the most extreme solution in terms of sound and light.
This muffler is more traditional; it allows for an increase in sound compared to the standard muffler, but one which his more restrained than the “tube-only” solution above. The difference lies in the use of a box for the silencer, which allows a greater sound reduction with closed valve, a characteristic which makes it particularly suitable for use in combination with solutions for removing/replacing the catalytic converter group with GPF. In this case, this muffler with a closed valve guarantees a less impactful noise level, while the tube-only version, even with the valve closed, would still have a very high dB emission.
Below, let’s look at the compatibility cases for Porsche 911 Carrera or Targa, 992 series, in better detail.
The two Tubi Style muffler codes are interchangeable with the optional sports exhaust system PSE, marked with the spare code Porsche 992 251 053 A
Depending on the type of exhaust tailpipe which is associated with the sports system, a different optional code is assigned by the manufacturer to the PSE sports exhaust system:
In the case where there is a standard exhaust system on the car, we can have the two codes
992 251 052 A Exhaust muffler – expired part
992 298 019 Exhaust muffler
The use of a Tubi Style code is NOT POSSIBLE, unless the EXHAUST TAILPIPES ARE REPLACED WITH THE ORIGINAL PORSCHE OVAL ONES LISTED ABOVE.
Below is a list of the NON-COMPATIBLE tailpipes which are in association with the standard exhaust system and which need to be replaced to allow the Tubi Style muffler to be installed on the Porsche 992 Carrera.
0P0 – standard trapezoidal brushed stainless-steel tailpipe for Porsche 911 Carrera and Porsche 911 Targa 992 series
0P0 – brushed stainless-steel double-tube standard tailpipe for Porsche 911 Carrera S 992 series
0P3 – standard double-tube polished tailpipe for Porsche 911 Carrera S 992 series
0P2 – standard double-tube carbon (eliminated) tailpipe for Porsche 911 Carrera S 992 series
0P6 – standard double-tube black tailpipe for Porsche 911 Carrera S 992 series
The bodies of the catalytic converters, which in the European market are inserted in series into the same body as the GPF system, are fit at the output of the turbo.
As for performance, the simple replacement of this element with a total removal tube, or with a racing catalytic converter, does not result in an immediate benefit. The current turbines are based on an extremely complex technology, which is driven by software which is perfectly calibrated to the operating conditions of the turbine. By removing the standard catalytic converter/GPF block, we decrease the pressure conditions downstream of the turbo, with effects which can be detrimental if the ECU software is not updated. Especially at intermediate speeds, the most sensitive drivers will feel a drop in torque.
For this reason we recommend always combining the replacement of these elements with an engine remapping, even if not prompted (commonly the preparers identify them as “stage 1”), which actually works to optimize the new operating conditions of the turbine, and allows you to get the maximum out of the new configuration of the exhaust.
An intervention on the control unit is, however, necessary to inhibit the ignition of the engine light and the consequent recovery strategies. The removal of the GPF, or the replacement or removal of the original catalyst, will normally be recognized by the engine control unit via the reading values not being congruent with the lambda probe, by the time of reaching the steady state thermal resistance of the catalytic converter, by errors on the differential pressure upstream and downstream of the GPF group catalytic converter. The ignition of the engine light is certain, and can occur even after a few hundred kilometers: depending on the error which will be set, a whole series of recovery strategies could be activated which would compromise the car’s driveability and enjoyment.
The Porsche 911 Carrera has different components from the Porsche 911 Turbo, mainly because of the position of the sensors.
For these models, Tubi Style offers two different types of products:
Intermediate product, reduces counter-pressures, maintaining a catalysis element which reduces pollutants
More extreme product, completely removes the catalysis element, maximizing the reduction of counterpressures, sound, weight reduction.
Both elements are NOT APPROVED for road use, and have the specific connections for the pressure relief necessary for the standard GPF. So the Tubi Style components for the 992 Carrera and the 992 Targa in the standard, S, GTS 2- and 4-wheel drive versions, both for the 911 Coupé and 911 Cabriolet bodies, are perfectly interchangeable with all the standard codes which we’ve listed below:
992 254 400 G Catalytic converter with left Gasoline Particulate Filter (expired part)
992 254 400 GX Catalytic converter with left Gasoline Particulate Filter (expired part)
992 254 400 J Catalytic converter with left Gasoline Particulate Filter
992 254 400 JX Catalytic converter with left Gasoline Particulate Filter
992 254 450 G Catalytic converter with right Gasoline Particulate Filter (expired part)

992 254 450 JX Catalytic converter with right Gasoline Particulate Filter
992 254 450 JX Catalytic converter with right Gasoline Particulate Filter
For non-European markets whose regulations allow Porsche not to use a GPF (such as the United States and Canada), the same component above is made without the specific connections for pressure sensors
